Calling Home From New Heights

Iconic Dodger Stadium AKA Chavez Ravine with Downtown LA in Background

Even though sports have been on hold for months, and the iconic Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully has long since retired, I can still hear his buttery voice in my head with his famous saying, “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” If you decide to pick Elysian Heights as the place to settle down your Los Angeles roots, it is not impossible one may be hearing “take me out to the ballgame” from their back patio once baseball returns to Chavez Ravine. As a diehard Dodger fan, being able to walk from my house to my seat at Dodger Stadium would quite honestly be a surreal experience. I mean, how could you not be a season ticket holder at that point, right? Even though we were stripped of one, and maybe even two titles that I was in attendance for, (a moment of silence please) Dodger baseball will one day return to the famed ballpark where “let’s go blue” reverberates around the Southland during home games.

Since commuting to a Dodger game on foot from the comforts of your own home likely won’t be happening until 2021 or beyond, let’s talk about why Elysian Heights has some otherwise epic qualities one should consider as a home base. Now, more than ever, the meaning of “home” is more powerful than it ever has been. As we transition into a new normal, finding the essence of what “home” means to an individual, both physically and emotionally, has really come into the forefront of the home buying process.

At Tenstar Properties, we are committed to be being a catalyst for those in the home buying and selling stages. Helping clients find “home,” is something we take very seriously. Although economic uncertainty still looms across all sectors, one thing holds true right now; Mortgage Interests Rates are at their lowest historical national average right now since they began keeping these statistics in 1971.

Elysian Heights is a neighborhood where residents are bound to get their “steps” in. Situated just South of where the I5 and 2 Freeway meet, is this tucked away gem, that in some parts resembles the hilly outskirts of a few San Francisco neighborhoods. With a mix of beautiful single-family homes, duplexes, condos, and townhouses, the opportunity abounds, and so does the affordability. If you work anywhere near the East side of Los Angeles, your commute (if and when that becomes a thing again) would be a breeze, similar to the zephyr that tends to sweep across this eclectic neighborhood every afternoon day.

With an abundance of activities from outdoor hiking, some of the best in LA to be honest; the walkability to things “LA” without the “LA” crowd is really a winning equation. An afternoon stroll around Silver Lake Reservoir is an awesome choice for residents with furry friends. For Dodger home games, pre-gaming at the Short Stop is a fun time. On away games, dinner at Night + Market Song, which sits just down the street in Silverlake has become a “go-to” LA, Thai staple. Cliff’s Edge, another great spot offers an insane brunch, and any meal for that matter. The area has no shortage of coffee joints not named Starbucks, so if that’s your jam, finding a good cup of joe is a guarantee. Start at Andante Coffee Roasters before you hit Alfred’s, which is now just down the street, shockingly (sarcasm obv).

A good night cap would be posting up at The Friend Bar, which has classic cocktails, and typically a good house dj spinning on the weekend. If the name sounds familiar, that is because the westside Venice equivalent, “The Little Friend Bar” has been open on Washington Boulevard for over a year now. Aside from activities and things to do in and around Elysian Heights, the location to other outlets is truly a premium offering. In just 10 minutes, you have access to Downtown LA, The Hollywood Bowl, Burbank Airport, and Angeles National Forest, which is home to some of LA Counties greatest hiking trails. Truly, the list goes on and on for why Elysian Heights is a great place to call home.

My team and I would love to be the catalyst you absolutely need when buying or selling real estate in LA. Afterall, this city has always been my home, so what better choice than to work with someone who takes such pride and joy in a place that offers so much.
