They say if you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together. I was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by strong independent females. When my father passed away when I was twelve, it was my mother’s resilience and the women my brother and I were held by, that taught me at an early age that obstacles can be overcome.

I didn’t feel the difference in perceived capabilities or opportunities between men and women until I entered into the business world. In the early stages of my professional life I felt that I had to wear a chip on my shoulder or act a certain way in order to be respected and not objectified in the workplace.

I lost a sense of who I was until I found the practice of yoga. It was through my yoga practice that I learned to be my most genuine self and that softness and femininity were in fact true power.

In today’s world, I get to witness men really celebrating, supporting, respecting and recognizing strong women in leadership roles. I was also very fortunate to find women who empower one another in their careers and businesses. We have come a long way and still have so much growing and evolving to do.

Aree’s Army is comprised of diverse brothers and sisters from across the globe, different generations and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our commonalities always outweigh our differences and we come together to be a powerful force of change to our families and communities. I never sought out to start the Army, the Army evolved so organically, so beautifully, and so powerfully.

I am Aree because of the Army. The Army is a tribe of people with a vibe. Aree’s Army is not your typical yoga class and my intention is to change your perceptions and elevate your practice in a transformative way. Through a slightly unconventional style of yoga, you will be pushed to new physical and mental limits but we do it together, as an Army.

For many years I had been offered the opportunity to start my own business, but it never felt right. The businesses would have been primarily for a financial incentive and I felt it deeply lacked soul.

It was in 2019 an Army member himself expressed his passion to contribute back to the wellness community with all the right components of the “why” that made my soul say yes immediately. Artha was born and I cannot be more grateful for this beautiful sanctuary that the Army can call home. Artha is a wellness center bringing together different modalities of wellness and has opened up opportunities for other teachers and practitioners to develop their own sub-communities.

For this path to have formed, I had to be willing to take risks, to seek guidance and assistance, to trust my intuition, and to let go of the story lines and the fear. I want to inspire other women to overcome adversity and be the change they wish to see.

You must go within yourself to mine for the diamonds.

I want to have more of a global impact to empower the youth and I am putting it out there to begin writing a book to share my story.

I want to thank the men in my life who’ve taken a chance on me and given myself and other women opportunities. Thank you to all the amazing men who have supported me and celebrated not only my victories, but have had the capacity to be there when I fall.
